Cutter Care
Welcome to the Rockrose Clay family! With a little care, your clay cutters will stay sharp and ready for countless creative projects. Here’s how to get the best results and keep your cutters in top condition.
Using Your Cutter
Setting Up Your Workspace:
Work on a smooth surface like ceramic or glass tile, and use a rolling pin to secure the clay firmly to the surface before cutting.
Prevent Sticking:
Before cutting, dab your cutter on a makeup sponge lightly coated with Armor All, or apply a light dusting of cornstarch to the cutter or clay slab. For best results, gently brush away any excess cornstarch with a soft brush.
Cutting and Lifting Tips:
Press firmly with even pressure along the cutter’s outline to ensure all edges fully contact the clay. Before lifting, gently wiggle the cutter to loosen it, then carefully lift from different sides to release.
Use with Conditioned Clay:
Be sure to condition your clay well. This helps prevent cracks or distortions and ensures a smooth, clean cut every time.
Cleaning & Care
Hand Wash Only:
These cutters are not dishwasher safe. Please hand wash gently with warm, soapy water and avoid harsh scrubbing to preserve their sharpness.
Avoid Heat and Sunlight:
Keep cutters out of direct sunlight and avoid exposure to high temperatures to prevent warping.
Store Carefully:
Store your cutters in a cool, dry place, avoiding direct stacking to keep edges sharp and clean.
Important Safety Note:
These cutters are not food-safe and should be kept out of reach of children.
Avoid Excessive Force:
While firm pressure is needed when cutting, be mindful not to use excessive force, as it can damage the cutter edges.
